New Vedder Bridge/Fortis BC Traffic Impact Starting March 13

Cultus Lake/Chilliwack – MARCH 3 UPDATE –  The recent snow and rain have pushed back construction on a Fortis BC Gas Main Pipe Relocation alongside the Vedder Bridge construction. Starting March 13, work that was supposed to have started on February 28, will keep crews busy on weekdays from 8 AM to 4PM. It’s not certain how long traffic disruptions to and from Cultus Lake will last.

FEBRUARY 22 ORIGINAL STORY – Traffic may be impacted starting  February 28 while FortisBC moves and upgrades a natural gas main located beneath the Vedder Bridge. The work is required as part of the City of Chilliwack’s Vedder Bridge Replacement project.

  • The initial work will take place on weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting February 28 until about March 10. There may be intermittent traffic impacts during periods of construction.
  • Work will resume in May, the exact timing will depend on the overall project schedule. During this phase, traffic will be reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic.

As a result of this work, customers in the Cultus Lake area will have increased capacity and be assured of continued safe and reliable service. We apologize for any inconvenience. For more information, visit us online at fortisbc.com/inyourcommunity or call 1-866-436-7847.
