Matsqui/Abbotsford -Inmates continue to be incarcerated in their cells at Matsqui Institution in Abbotsford.

This is Day 3 as guards search for sharp-edged weapons that could be made from a missing knife.

Assistant Warden Gord Tanner said a kitchen worker noticed a blade was missing from a food processor and told superiors at the medium security prison.

The blade could be “split up into a couple of sharp weapons,” said Tanner.

250 inmates have been locked down in their cells since 4PM Sunday afternoon.
