Chilliwack – When you have a business on the edge of a Downtown Chilliwack neighborhood, that over the years has seen increased crime. You wonder how long one can stay in business.
Such is the case for the Society Gathering House.
At one time, there were lineups to get into the eatery, which over the years has had a number of names.
But it is smack dab in the middle of the so-called “Ground Zero” and a recent homicide across the street seemed to be the last straw.
The owner posted a cryptic message on Facebook, thanking patrons, and throwing in the towel.
3 Years ago our family started a great adventure and opened Society Gathering House. We bought a beautiful building in the heart of Downtown Chilliwack and it was a very memorable day for us! We were proud! Danielle and Myself were very excited as we were not only starting a new business but we were starting a life together. We came to work together and gave it our best everyday with many of you front and centre as witness to Society Gathering House growing daily and becoming our gathering place for our family and for our many friends. Over the last 3 years we learned, grew and surpassed our expectations in many ways.
As of this time I give our neighbours our notice the we are calling it quits … Thank you to our customers and friends for the unbelievable adventure & maybe we will see you in better times.
Society Gathering House will shut down our doors for good Sunday May 22nd 2016, so come by and say good bye because is going to be a party every night for a week with live music.
