Chilliwack Curlers Hurrying Hard!

Chilliwack/Delta – Team Freeman from Chilliwack competed at the Tunnel Town Curling Club in Tsawassen this past weekend at the Mixed Lower Mainland Playdown. 12 teams were vying for 4 provincial births.

Team Freeman consisting of Skip Mike Freeman, Third Kim McLandress, Second Bill Dalzell, and Lead Philippa Johnston started the competition Friday against a fellow Chilliwack team, Team Strathdee. Team Freeman won decisively 14-1. Friday afternoon, Freeman played Team Klitch from the Delta Thistle Curling Club winning that game 10-3.

Saturday morning Freeman lost to Team Forrest from Vancouver/Richmond 10-4. Saturday afternoon the team bounced back beating Team Roemer from the Marpole Curling Club 9-8. Saturday evening, Freeman had another close game, but was able to beat Team Robertson from the Vancouver Curling Club 6-4.

The B final was played on Sunday morning and Freeman triumphed over Team Shimizu from the Richmond Curling Club 6-1.

Last year Freeman brought back a bronze medal to Chilliwack from mixed provincials. The team is hoping for another medal this year in Qualicum…they are aiming for one with more gold!
