Shake Out BC Day Thursday October 15

Fraser Valley – Every year the Great British Columbia Shakeout is held to raise earthquake awareness. Considering that the Fraser Valley had a few minor rattles over the summer, it is a reminder that we don’t live far off the San Andreas fault line that runs off the BC Coast. Plus we are in the “Ring Of Fire” and we have had our share of Tsunami warnings over the past few years.

This all brings us back to the basics.

When the next one, let alone the big one hits, will you be prepared for the first 72 hours of being “on your own?”

Just go back to the huge windstorm at the end of August and how we all howled that Hydro was down and woe is us. First world problems?  Hardly! In the event of a major earthquake, that scenario will be pale in comparison as to what we would and could have to deal with.

You can join by registering for the 2015 Great British Columbia ShakeOut.

On Thursday October 15 at 10:15 AM – you’ll be asked to take part in the annual earthquake exercise. Would you know what to do ?

The Great British Columbia ShakeOut

Participating is a great way for your family or organization to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes – wherever you live, work, or travel.
