Chilliwack RCMP Need Public Info On Harrison Street Arson

Chilliwack, BC –  RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance as police investigate an alleged arson which occurred overnight.

On October 7, 2015 at approximately 1:30 a.m. RCMP received a report of a structure fire in the 9700 block of Harrison Street. General Duty officers arrived at the address as Chilliwack Fire Department were engaged extinguishing a fire contained to the rear exterior wall and roof of an unoccupied house.

Officers and members of the Chilliwack Fire Department quickly determined the source of the fire was suspicious and secured the premises.

Investigators from UFVRD Serious Crime Unit supported by Chilliwack Fire Department, and the Integrated Forensic Investigation Section have gathered evidence from the scene and continue to canvas neighbours as they pursue their investigation.

“No one was injured fighting the fire. Police are working with the Chilliwack Fire Department to determine whether the fire was targeted and if it is, whether it may be linked to other suspicious fires we have had in the area,” said Cpl. Mike Rail.
