Abbotsford, BC – On June 1, 2015 the Major Crime Unit of the Abbotsford Police Department initiated an online investigation into the potential accessing, possessing and sharing of images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children. In the weeks that followed, investigators identified a possible suspect involved. That suspect resides in Abbotsford.
On September 3, 2015 a search warrant was obtained for the residence of a 28-year-old man named Eric Andrew ELLINGSEN. Police seized CDs, DVDs, phones and computers. A search of these items provided police with enough evidence to arrest ELLINGSEN on September 9, 2015.
On September 13, 2015 Eric Andrew ELLINGSEN was charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography and Distributing Child Pornography. He was released on a Recognizance of Bail that prohibits him from:
* having contact with anyone under 18 years of age
* attending parks, playgrounds, swimming pools or recreation centers where persons under the age of 18 are present or might be expected to be present
* possessing any electronic device capable of accessing the internet, including cellular phones, computers and computer gaming consoles except while engaged in work or study
* engaging in any activity that involves contact or communication with any persons under the age of 18 using a computer system.
