Chilliwack Restorative Justice Bike Sale Saturday May 30

Chilliwack, BC – Buy a bike and support a great cause at the same time. Saturday, May 30th, 2015 will be the day Chilliwack Restorative Justice and Youth Advocacy Association will be hosting their annual “Used Bike Sale” at Bernard Elementary School. “We have some pretty sweet bike’s coming on the auction block” says Peter Devette, Restorative Justice Board director and sale auctioneer. The organization receives recovered bikes donated by the City of Chilliwack. Up to 100 bikes will be available for sale; some may be high end, others need a little TLC. Viewing begins at 9am with the auction at 10am sharp. Bikes are sold to the highest bidder and we only accept cash.

The money raised from the bikes plays a very important part in subsidizing this much need program in our community. Restorative Justice supports the RCMP, School District and Loss Prevention services in this community as well as Agassiz, Harrison & Hope. This program allows first time offenders an opportunity to repair the damage done by an offense.

Executive Director Kathy Funk added “last year the sale brought in over $6,000 and it was great to see the community come out and support our car wash & bottle drive”. For those not looking for a bike, the organization asks that you support the fundraiser by bringing your refundable beverage containers down and have your car washed. Coffee will be on at 9am and the event will run until noon. Auction starts at 10am sharp & runs until all the bikes are sold.

By supporting this event, it is a Win/Win for both Restorative Justice and for those looking for a good deal on a bike. Come out and support this great organization and ride away on your gently used bike.
