Chilliwack, BC – In 2013, a number of parents were concerned about the condition of the playground at Evans Elementary school in Chilliwack. It was literally falling apart and did not meet the needs for any student who had mobility challenges.
A couple of moms, Katrina Eng and Melissa Plowright , took it upon themselves to get busy in organizing a fundraiser including enrolling in a contest.
That was the Aviva Community Fund inline contest. They didn’t win but the exposure sure helped the cause.
With the help of the Chilliwack School Board and many other contributors, both public and private, the playground at Evans Elementary is ready for the great unveiling.
Phase One in the universal playground will have a grand opening during the lunch hour on Thursday May 14.
