Bandits Lose Inaugural Opener, Make Great First Impression

Abbotsford – (With files from Scott McVetty-chilTV) Some three thousand fans packed a re-jigged-for-basketball Abbotsford Centre for the inaugural opener for the CEBL Fraser Valley Bandits. Pro basketball is back in BC. We won’t mention the NBA Vancouver Grizzlies or the WBL Vancouver Nighthawks (If you can remember the 80’s).

Normally the Abbotsford Centre holds over 7000 but with the magic of stadium draping, the capacity was cut in half and made for a cozy and loud atmosphere.

Even though Guelph beat the Bandits by three, 106-103, by all accounts on social media, everyone enjoyed the caliber of play.

Randal Janzen on Facebook summed it up – exciting basketball…..just watched first game and it was unfortunate they lost but a tight game right to the end!!! looking forward to watching more .

All games are on line through CBEL.tv. Next Home Game Saturday May 18 again vs Guelph.
