Chilliwack Council – First Meeting Of 2019 – Financial Plan (VIDEO)

Chilliwack – Chilliwack Council rolled up their sleeves for the 2019 year, and got to the financial nuts and bolts of running the city.

The 2019 Financial Plan was given first and second reading with a public hearing set for January 22, 2019.

The tax increase will be 3.43% – maintaining the lowest property and business taxes in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley

The 2019 plan includes an additional six RCMP members plus one policing support position, two additional firefighters, plus the conversion of two seasonal bylaw enforcement officers to year-round. The plan also provides for additional resources for litter and garbage clean-up in the downtown and parks areas, to enhance the cleanliness of the community.

Council also approved the purchase of one Fire Rescue/Pumper Aerial Truck from Commercial Truck Equipment in the amount of $1.3M.

Council awarded the tender for the “2019 Fraser River Erosion Protection Project” to Summit Earthworks Inc., in the amount of $560,200.00.
