BC Housing – Chilliwack Trethewey Proposal Passes City Council

Chilliwack -SEPTEMBER 18 UPDATE – Chilliwack City Council gave third reading and the green light for the zoning of 46 unit BC Housing project on three properties to be rolled into one on the 45800 block of Trethewy. This is the latest supportive housing project to be passed by Council. BC Housing will work in concert with Rain City and Fraser Health.

September 11 ORIGINAL STORY  – BC Housing, Rain City and Fraser Health are holding a two day open house on September 11 and 12 to show the public, their latest proposal.

The open house at the Alliance Church (8700 Young Road, Chilliwack) will have displays as well as a presentation suite on what the project with 46 studio homes would look like. The adult living would include support services for the tenants.

The project is near the Chilliwack Bottle Depot.

Back in May, the City of Chilliwack approved the application to rezone the property at 45944 Yale Road for a similar project.

A date for a public hearing in front of City Council has yet top be determined, although BC Housing is confident that Trethewey zoning will be approved and construction completed by the Spring 2019.

Combined, both Yale Road and Trethewy would create 93 units of  supportive housing.
