Fraser Valley – WBB: Cascades cruise to blowout win over Mount Royal
Too much to handle.
The nationally ranked University of Fraser Valley Cascades women’s basketball team blew out the Mount Royal University Cougars 73-47 Friday evening at Kenyon Court.
With the win, the Cascades improve to 14-3 on the season, while Mount Royal drops to 6-11.
The powerhouse team from Abbotsford, kept cruising late into the contest and was able to empty their bench. Deanna Tuchscherer led UFV in scoring with 15, while Maddy Gobeil trailed just behind with 12.
Nora Luca led the Cougars with 15 points. On-court captain Jenika Martens and Harriette Mackenzie each tallied seven of their own.
The two Canada West teams will rematch tomorrow night at Kenyon Court for the MRU Cougars basketball’s senior night. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. All the action can be streamed live on Canada West TV.
MBB: Klim sets new program single-game rebounding mark as Cascades defeat MRU
Matthias Klim dominated on the glass, picking up 21 rebounds to set a new program single-game record, as the UFV Cascades took down the Mount Royal University Cougars 84-74 on Friday night.
Klim’s 21 rebounds topped the previous high of 19 that was set by Jasper Moedt exactly 10 years and one day previous on February 1, 2014 against Brandon.
The Cascades third straight victory moves them to 7-10 on the season, and one step closer to clinching a Canada West playoff spot. Mount Royal meanwhile drops to 7-10, and in 11th place in the conference, just ahead of UFV based on RPI.
The Cascades and Cougars face off once again on Saturday, with tip-off set for 6pm PT. The game can be seen live on canadawest.tv.
WVB: Lauren Attieh leads the way as Cascades get past WolfPack in three sets
Lauren Attieh had a game-high eight kills, as the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades cruised to a three set victory (25-20, 25-18, 25-14) over the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack on Friday night at the UFV Athletic Centre.
The win moves the USPORTS No. six ranked Cascades to 16-3 on the season, while Thompson Rivers drops to 6-13.

MVB: Adams shines as Cascades defeat WolfPack in five sets
Ryan Adams came up with one of his best performances, as the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades came out on top in a five-set battle (16-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-27, 15-11) with the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack on Friday night at the UFV Athletic Centre.
The Cascades improve to 6-13 with the win, while TRU drops to 9-10 on the season.
