Fraser Valley – Men’s Soccer:
Roland Mansell scored his first goal of the season in the 89th minute, as the UFV Cascades defeated the MacEwan University Griffins 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Rotary Stadium.
The result stands as UFV goalkeeper Kody Torrance’s first Canada West victory, and moves the Cascades to 2-6 on the season, while MacEwan falls to 2-5 so far this season.The Cascades now turn to a pair of crucial contests on the road next weekend against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on Friday and the UBC Okanagan Heat on Sunday. Both games have massive playoff implications with kickoff scheduled for 7pm and 12pm respectively. Meanwhile, the Griffins will face local rivals from the University of Alberta next Saturday.
Women’s Soccer:
Madison Telmer scored a stoppage time header, and despite trailing twice, the UFV Cascades women’s soccer team rallied to defeat the University of Regina Cougars 3-2 on Sunday at Rotary Stadium.
The win moves the Cascades to 5-2-2 on the season, while the cougars fall to 1-3-4 in the campaign.
The Cascades continue their homestand next weekend as they take on Thompson Rivers University next Friday, and UBC Okanagan on Sunday. Game times are set for 7pm and 1pm respectively, with both games available to watch live on Canada West TV.
