Abbotsford – as the Fraser Valley is now into week 5 of the Transit strike between the Drivers union (CUPE 561) and their employer, First Transit, comes the next event.
The Bus Drivers Union is holding a protest in Jubilee Park Abbotsford on Saturday April 22.
The BC Labour Minister MLA Harry Baines has stated since this started March 20, that he wants both sides to negotiate a deal. His ministry does not want to impose a settlement.
Over the past week, the FVRD along with the City’s of Abbotsford and Chilliwack have sent a letter to Baines, asking for Provincial action as in a mediator. Baines responded in a media scrum in Victoria that both sides are cool to that idea for now.
