Chilliwack – With the backdrop of the recent Chilliwack Pride festival, came a tete a tete on social media from some who feel that certain books in the Chilliwack Public school Library system are “pornographic” and should be removed. Further, that School Trustee Willow Reichelt, who has been vocal in support of these approved books , should somehow be charged with “distributing and promoting pornography”.
NOTE, the 2022 Municipal Elections are October 15. Dr Ferguson and Barry Neufeld, also running in October, have had and continue to have standing offers for interviews on both FVN and chillTV.
Trustee Dr. Darrell Ferguson, who has been open about his dislike for Reichelt and her policies, pushed along social media posts that encourage the notion that “charges be brought forth”.

While it is upsetting that the Chilliwack school board continues to make the news for all the wrong reasons, I think it’s important for the public to understand what is at stake in this election.
Do you want a board that understands the importance of having relevant and inclusive resources and that trusts staff to select these resources? Or do you want a board that will micromanage staff and ban anything that doesn’t conform to their narrow and regressive sensibilities?
