Cold Front To Bring Snow to Coquihalla, Highway 3 – Village of Harrison in the Dark

Coquihalla – The heat is done for now and a cold front with rain roared through Monday with thunder storms and lightning.

BC Hydro crews were working overnight to restore power although the Village of Harrison as of 7 AM Tuesday remains in the dark. Harrison Elementary will be closed Tuesday.

In Mission, Telus has to deal with a few blocks of major lines that came down.

This cold front also means the potential for 5 to 10 cms of snow for the Coquihalla – Hope to Merritt and Highway 3 through Manning Park.

This started Monday morning and will continue through Tuesday evening.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt
  • Highway 3 – Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass

Periods of snow will occur at elevations above 900 metres today.

Total snowfall amounts: 5 to 10 cm

Locations: higher elevations of Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt and Highway 3 – Hope to Princeton

Remarks: A cold upper disturbance will move across southern British Columbia today bringing unstable air and low freezing levels. Periods of snow will occur over higher elevations of the Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt and Highway 3 – Hope to Princeton. Snow will taper off tonight as the disturbance departs.
