While There Is Valley Resistance To Kinder Morgan Expansion, Delta May Not Be So Negative

Fraser Valley/Delta (With files from CBC/News1130) – The no-brainer is that the proposed twinning of the Kinder Morgan Bituman pipeline from Hope, through Chilliwack and Abbotford and onto the Burnaby refinery, has not been accepted with open arms.

Recently the City of Chilliwack and Chilliwack School Board said thanks but no thanks to monetary incentives from Kinder Morgan.

PR wise, it’s would not settle well with many people.

There is an alternate route proposed by Alberta Premier Rachel Notley.

Rolling through the Valley would still be on the table but the destination may not be Burnaby.

Delta is seriously thinking about allowing the pipeline to terminate at Deltaport instead of Burrard Inlet.

Now for the record, Delta’s Mayor Lois Jackson has not been officially approached about the idea.  She admits there are plenty of questions that need to be answered.

BUT she has not laid down a definitive “NO”. On CBC -She also not so subtly hinted that the Alberta Premier made “inappropriate” comments that Delta would made for a better destination than Burrard Inlet

Kinder Morgan is hedging bets, or playing good Media Relations. They claim they are not exploring this at all, and will proceed with the initial plan to terminate at  Burrard Inlet. Kinder Morgan states that this is the easiest, safest way.
