Abbotsford (Star FM) – The City of Abbotsford is getting set to move on to phase two of planning the U-District, a proposed neighborhood in and around the University of the Fraser Valley.
Director of community planning Mark Neill says the idea is to have commercial and residential services for the University of the Fraser Valley.
“The lands that we’re looking at are primarily the campus itself and the lands mostly north of King road. So those are existing lands that contain industrial uses right now.”
Neill says they’ll use information from the background studies to develop some concepts.
“We’re going to develop two to three options to grow and bring those to the public in the fall. That will include a neighborhood plan and some campus work. After that we’ll use that information to refine the options down to one plan.”
Neill says they’ll get input from council on that final plan before once again going to the public.
