Opinion – Talking Suicide From Personal Experience (VIDEO)

Fraser Valley – In light of this week’s passing of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, a flood of emotions have rolled through yours truly. Having dealt with a number of suicides with fellow media members, I simply had to speak up.

Help is out there, and sometime, you may be too fearful to ask for help.

That’s where we have to step up and lend a hand, an ear and a shoulder.

And empathy. You simply can’t “pull yourself up by the bootstraps”. Depression doesn’t work that way. Mental Illness doesn’t work that way.

If you need to – make a call. You are NOT alone.
