BC River Forecast Centre – Snow Basin Data – Above Normal

Victoria/Fraser Valley – The BC River Forecast Centre and the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources have released the snow basin data.

As the Okanagan is now dealing with flooding problems, that concern may not be acute in the Fraser Valley for at least another one to two weeks. Having said that you will notice on the chart, dated May 1 (the completion date for the snow survey for the past winter) that the Lower and Middle Fraser are above normal.

(Lower Fraser is 125% and Middle Fraser 115%)

Local officials are not expressing any panic, rather due caution and keeping an eye on the southern interior situation, as that runoff will eventually come down past Hope, Chilliwack and the Mission Gauge.
