Victoria – Students, faculty and staff at B.C.’s public post-secondary institutions are encouraged to share their thoughts on sexual violence policies through the Province’s Prevent Sexual Violence campaign website.
“Campuses must be safe places for learning and working,” said Melanie Mark, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training. “We want to raise awareness about sexual violence policies at B.C.’s public post-secondary institutions, find out if there’s room to strengthen them and understand what more we can do to prevent sexual violence on campus.”
Mark is inviting feedback on policies to prevent and respond to sexual violence and misconduct on campus.
Feedback can be provided confidentially at: engage.gov.bc.ca/preventsexualviolence
Responses should be submitted by January 29, 2018.
To ensure a safe environment for students, faculty and staff, all 25 public post-secondary institutions in B.C. are required by law to have a policy addressing sexual violence and misconduct. The Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training has launched the Prevent Sexual Violence campaign to get feedback from post-secondary communities on their institutions’ policies. Feedback received will help ensure a strong policy framework that supports safe and informed post-secondary students, staff and faculty.
