Fraser Valley – As the clock ticks down to the 1 PM deadline on October 3 for nominations for the October 24 Provincial Elections, more information on candidates is revealed.
Chilliwack Resident Adila Shaukat is the NDP Candidate for Chilliwack North, and there is a Dan Coulter Connection. Coulter, a former MLA, lost the seat in 2024 to Heather Maahs. Coulter died unexpectedly soon after.
In a October 3 social media post, Louis De Jaeger, who many thought would be the candidate, posted: I’m proud to endorse Chilliwack resident Adila Shaukat for Chilliwack North. I’ve worked with Adila in the riding for more than two years, and I’ve seen her incredible organizational skills firsthand. She knows this community and understands the challenges people face. Her close relationship with former BC NDP MLA Dan Coulter and her experience working in the Premier’s Office give her a strong understanding of both the riding and how to advocate for it. I’m happy to support Adila’s campaign, and I’ll be out on the doorsteps with her, listening to constituents and promoting good policies that make a difference in everyday life. Her knowledge, experience, and commitment to Chilliwack North make her the perfect candidate. I believe our riding deserves an alternative to the views and ideology guiding our current MLA’s Conservative Party. Adila has my full support
From Willow Reichelt: Adila was my coworker in Dan Coulter’s office before she moved on to working with him in Transportation and Infrastructure. She has a deep understanding of how government works and would be a great MLA.
