Off-Road Vehicle Prohibitions on Crown Land Includes Parts of the Coastal Fire Centre (Fraser Valley)

Victoria – From BC Wildfire Service: Given the scope and scale of wildfires currently burning in B.C., and to further protect public safety, recreational off-road vehicle use will be prohibited on Crown land in the Kamloops and Southeast Fire Centres, as well as parts of the Cariboo and Coastal Fire Centres (Haida Gwaii and Most of Vancouver Island are exempt).

This prohibition is effective immediately, as of 12 p.m. (noon) on August 10, 2026.

The BC Wildfire Service is continually monitoring conditions and evaluating the need for further restrictions. This temporary prohibition may be expanded or rescinded as needed.

Anyone found in contravention of this off-road vehicle prohibition may be issued a violation ticket for as much as $1,150. If the contravention causes or contributes to a wildfire, the person responsible may be ordered to pay all firefighting and associated costs.

To report a violation, call the Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) line at: 1-877-952-7277.
