Fraser Valley – The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) Board has elected their Chair and Vice-Chair, both by acclamation, at the Board meeting held November 27, 2025. Annual election of Chair and Vice-Chair positions is required as part of Provincial legislation. Additionally, on November 27, 2025, the Fraser Valley Regional Hospital District Board (FVRHD) election was held, where the Chair and Acting-Chair were elected, both by acclamation. The Chair, Vice-Chair, and Acting-Chair are one-year term positions.
City of Abbotsford Councillor, Patricia Ross takes on her second consecutive term as Board Chair following her leadership as Board Vice-Chair from 2012-2024, and Board Chair 2009-2011. City of Chilliwack Councillor, Chris Kloot embraces a second term as FVRD Board Vice-Chair. District of Kent Mayor, Sylvia Pranger remains as the Chair for the FVRHD Board, and City of Mission Mayor, Paul Horn continues as the Acting-Chair for the FVRHD Board.
“Thank you, Board members, for electing me as your Board Chair for another term. I am honoured to be trusted as your Chair,” said Patricia Ross, FVRD Board Chair. “During these uncertain times, there is no better time than the present to formulate critical solutions through collaboration, commitment, and creativity. In the year ahead, I am hopeful that we will approach challenges that may come our way as opportunities,” she said.
“The Hospital District Board will continue to embrace opportunities that underpin our shared commitment to support community by investing in health care equipment and capital priorities,” said Sylvia Pranger, FVRHD Board Chair. “We are looking forward to seeing projects come alive in the next couple of years, including having the Abbotsford and Chilliwack Long Term Care residences come online,” she said.
The FVRD is the third most populous regional district in British Columbia and one of twenty-seven throughout the province. A 24-member Board governs the FVRD with eight directors elected by Electoral Area residents and sixteen appointed from municipal councils. The FVRHD was established by the provincial government to provide the local share of capital funding for health care infrastructure in the Fraser Valley.
