Hope (District of Hope) – The Province has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the South Coast and Lower Fraser tributaries, including Hope. This advisory reflects the incoming rainfall system expected November 13 and 14.
What’s Happening:
A frontal system is bringing up to 50mm of rain, with higher amounts over elevated terrain. Warmer temperatures may also cause mid-elevation snowmelt, adding to runoff.
River Conditions:
• Rivers are already running at seasonal to above-seasonal levels
• Rapid rises are expected today and Friday
• Peak levels may reach 2–5 year flow ranges, potentially the highest of the season
• Rain-on-snow conditions may increase runoff
Safety Reminders:
• Stay well back from swift-running rivers and unstable banks
• Never drive through flooded roads or crossings
• Expect possible erosion, debris, and localized flooding
• Check and clear storm drains near your home to help reduce pooling
The River Forecast Centre will continue monitoring conditions and issue updates as needed.
