UPDATE – Wildfire Near Deroche – Norrish Creek Watershed Near Nicomen Slough

Deroche – UPDATE from Mission Fire – The City of Mission is aware of a small wildfire that has ignited within the Norrish Creek watershed near Nicomen Slough. The fire is currently estimated at .009 ha in size. A four person BC Wildfire Crew is on site with one water tender. The fire is outside of the portion of the watershed that supplies drinking water to Mission and Abbotsford. The City is sharing information with Leq’a:mel First Nation and is ready to assist if needed. Updates are available from https://wildfiresituation.nrs.gov.bc.ca/dashboard

Note that the cause has not been released, although lightning strikes from thunderstorms are a possible cause.

As of Tuesday morning, the fire is small, listed at 0.009 Hectares.
