Municipal Elections are October 17.

SEPTEMBER 10 UPDATE –

The Conservative Party of Chilliwack today announced Martina Rosini as the Conservative candidate for Mayor of Chilliwack, launching a campaign to cut property taxes, oppose low-barrier BC Housing drug sites and strengthen support for law enforcement.“Families are working harder than ever before, and still struggling to pay the bills. City Hall should be making life more affordable, not less,” said Rosini. “I’m running to cut your property taxes, support local businesses, back our police and first responders, and put the safety of your family first.”Rosini criticized her opponent Jason Lum’s votes for property tax increases totalling 26% since 2022, costing the average household $560 more every year in property taxes, on top of what folks were already paying.“Since he was first elected in 2011, Jason Lum has voted to raise property taxes every single year. Year after year, for fifteen years in a row, Jason Lum has voted for higher property taxes, and he’ll raise taxes even higher if he becomes the Mayor,” said Rosini.“Chilliwack cannot afford four years of Jason Lum’s higher taxes, his excuses on public safety, or his pro-drug and pro-NDP drug site policies. Jason Lum would bring more BC Housing drug sites to Chilliwack, and he’d make all of us pay for the cost of policing them through higher property taxes,” Rosini said.Rosini pledged to oppose the NDP’s safe-supply approach and the expansion of low-barrier BC Housing sites, while ensuring law enforcement has the funding and support it needs to protect the community.“We need a mayor who will stand up for taxpayers and stand up to Victoria and BC Housing when provincial drug site policies put our neighbourhoods at risk.”Rosini also cited recent reports that an 11-year-old girl was hospitalized possibly after exposure to fentanyl fumes in her own backyard, which neighbours a BC Housing site, saying the alleged incident underscores the need to put neighbourhood safety first.A lifelong advocate for conservative values and common sense, Rosini has spent her career in public service fighting for common sense conservative values, including working in the Office of the Premier of British Columbia, and working for Conservative Members of Parliament across BC. She brings firsthand knowledge of how government works and how to advocate for local priorities with provincial and federal decision-makers.Martina’s dedication to public service is inspired in part by her husband, a Canadian Navy veteran who served in combat in Afghanistan.“I know how to navigate government and push for results,” Rosini said. “I’ll bring that experience to City Hall and put it to work for Chilliwack.”“Martina brings strong conservative values, practical experience in government, and the strength, character, and determination to stand up for Chilliwack residents,” said David Denhoff, President of the Conservative Electors Association. “She understands that taxpayers deserve respect, police and first responders deserve support and that families need to feel safe in their own neighbourhoods. If you want Chilliwack to be more affordable, with safer neighbourhoods, and stronger local businesses, then you have to vote Conservative, and support Martina Rosini for Mayor.”“Lower Taxes. Safer Streets. Families First. That’s what I’m running for. It’s time to bring common sense to Chilliwack City Hall,” said Rosini.

October 5 UPDATE – Peter MacKay, co-founder of the Conservative Party of Canada and former federal cabinet minister, has endorsed Conservative candidate Martina Rosini for Mayor of Chilliwack ahead of the October 17th municipal election.

Rosini is campaigning on a 10 per cent property tax cut and stronger support for police and first responders.

The Hon. Peter MacKay, PC, KC, who served as Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and as Federal Minister of National Defence, Justice, and Foreign Affairs, provided the following statement:

“Martina Rosini is a long time conservative activist and principled community oriented leader who I have come to know and respect over many years through her involvement in local, provincial, and National conservative campaigns. She always impressed and contributed positively with her hard work, intelligence and principled contributions.

She has a clear dedication to common sense values, consensus building, humility and approachability, which will serve her well as Mayor of Chilliwack.

I am proud to support Martina Rosini for Mayor of Chilliwack.”

“I’m honoured to have Peter MacKay’s support,” said Rosini. “I’m running to cut property taxes by 10 per cent, back our police and first responders, and put Chilliwack families first. That’s the work I want to get on with at City Hall.”

The Conservative Party of Canada co-founder’s support for Rosini marks the highest-profile endorsement by a national political figure of any BC municipal candidate so far this election cycle.

Rosini’s background includes work in the Office of the Premier of British Columbia and for Conservative Members of Parliament across British Columbia.
