The signs have arrived! Bound to be quite the display with 11 candidates running in the village.
I’m running for council because I believe my skills can serve this community well.
I’m not running against anyone—I’m running *for* something: a place at the table where we can think through our challenges together. Years of university work have trained me to sit with hard questions, to hear multiple viewpoints, and to find paths forward that respect different perspectives. I’ve done this work on committees addressing sexual assault policy, religious expression on campus, and institutional change. Now I want to offer that same thoughtfulness to our village.
I teach philosophy, sociology, and education—subjects that have deepened my belief that how we make decisions *matters* just as much as what we decide.
I see council as a deliberative body: by listening to our community, weighing competing needs carefully, and overseeing the day-to-day work as the village staff keep Harrison running. Some of that work is urgent—our fire safety plan needs clarifying, and we need to build a stronger partnership in collaboration with the District of Kent (and not just about the new pool). Other work is longer-term: honoring the First Nations whose presence here spans thousands of years, and thinking intentionally about our relationship with our school and the future we’re building and sustaining for young people.
