From her media: Putting My Name Forward for Council in Hope
For the past 10 years, I’ve been proud to call Hope, BC home. Over those years, Hope has become much more than a place where I live — it has become my community, my home, and a place I deeply care about.
Hope is a special community. We have incredible natural beauty, strong community spirit, and something you simply can’t find everywhere: people who look out for one another. From our mountains and rivers to the families, volunteers, first responders, businesses, and organizations that make Hope what it is, there is so much to be proud of.
I’m putting my name forward to run for Hope Council because I believe in this community and I want to be part of building a strong future for it.
My life has always been centered around serving others and being part of my community. I am a nurse, a retired paid-on-call firefighter, and a former StrongStart Facilitator with Fraser-Cascade School District 78. I’m also a proud mother of four adult children and grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren.
These experiences have taught me the importance of listening, compassion, teamwork, accountability, and showing up when people need you. I understand that a community is only as strong as the people who are willing to invest their time and energy into making it better.
As a councillor, I would strive to be approachable, accessible, and willing to listen. I want to hear from the people who live here — our families, seniors, young people, businesses, volunteers, and everyone who contributes to making Hope home.
I believe Hope deserves leadership that respects our community’s history while also looking toward its future. We need to protect what makes Hope special while finding thoughtful, responsible ways to support growth, local businesses, community services, recreation, families, and the people who call Hope home.
I’m not running because I think I have all the answers.
I’m running because I care, I’m willing to listen, and I’m ready to serve.
Hope has given my family and me a place to call home for the past 10 years. I would be honoured to give back to the community that has given us so much.
Together, let’s keep Hope a place we are proud to call home — today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
