Chilliwack (Media release) – Long-time Chilliwack City Councillor Chris Kloot has officially announced his candidacy for re-election, launching his 2026 campaign focused on responsible growth and preparing Chilliwack for the future.
Running under the campaign “Building Tomorrow, Together”, Kloot’s platform is built around eight key foundational blocks that reflect a balanced vision for Chilliwack’s future. His campaign focuses on ensuring growth is thoughtfully planned and supports a thriving community while protecting the qualities that make Chilliwack unique.
He has served on the cities Public Safety Advisory Committee and the Affordable Housing Development Advisory Committee, while currently chairing both the Design Review Committee, the Agricultural and Rural Committee, Vice Chair of the Transportation Advisory Committee, in addition to serving as the Vice Chair of the Fraser Valley Regional District, which represents over 330,000 residents.
As a lifelong Chilliwack farmer, agriculture has always been at the heart of Kloot’s connection to Chilliwack and has shaped his approach to serving the community. He believes responsible growth and farmland preservation must go hand in hand, creating new opportunities while protecting the agricultural land and rural character that have shaped Chilliwack for generations
