Mission RCMP impaired driving enforcement
The winter impaired driving campaign in Mission officially started on Saturday night, when officers alongside volunteers from the Mission Crime Prevention Office set up road checks around town. Here’s how it went:
-Over 1,200 vehicles were checked
-131 drivers were required to provide samples of their breath into roadside screening devices
-125 of those drivers passed the test
-3 of the drivers registered “fail” readings. They received 90-day driving prohibitions and 30-day vehicle impounds
-1 driver registered a “warn” reading, and received a 3-day driving prohibition
-2 other drivers were issued 24-hour driving prohibitions
-1 driver received a ticket for excessive speeding
Keeping impaired and dangerous drivers off the road saves lives. Thank you to everyone who made the choice to drive sober and responsibly.
Officers will continue to be on the roads and visible throughout the holiday season.
