Ottawa/Abbotsfsord – Alex Mitchell MBA is the CEO of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce:
This week I was in Ottawa representing the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and our business community.
Had the pleasure of participating in the Red Tape Reduction Summit, hosted by the Treasury Board Secretariat | Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, an important discussion on cutting unnecessary regulatory burden to improve Canada’s competitiveness.
Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne spoke to this moment and how we need to ‘get big things done.’ The session featured a conversation with representatives from the new Major Projects Office which is being tasked to reduce the wait times to get approvals to yes.
I also joined Abbotsford MP Brad Vis for a visit to the House of Commons, reinforcing key priorities for our region, including agriculture, trade, reducing the burdens on small business and trade-enabling infrastructure from flood mitigation upgrades to Highway 1.
Grateful for the opportunity to ensure Abbotsford’s voice is heard at the national level, and looking forward to bringing these conversations home.
