Mission RCMP were conducting proactive patrols of the downtown area around 9 am on November 19, when they observed a suspected drug dealer getting into a vehicle. Officers pulled over the vehicle and arrested the occupants. One of the persons inside was found to have various packages of suspected Fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and various pills. He was also in possession of other items consistent with drug trafficking. The drugs were seized, and the investigation is currently pending laboratory analysis.
Police were called to the Mission library on the evening of November 19, after a man began causing a disturbance, then allegedly stole various picture frames from the walls of the library, claiming they were his. Officers searched the area, but the suspect was not located; however, about an hour later, a staff member at a gas station in Mission reported that he had just been assaulted by a man who was trying to get into the store. Officers located the man, and confirmed it was the same person whom had been causing the disturbance at the library. He was arrested for assault, and a charge is being recommended. The picture frames were recovered, but had been damaged. Fortunately, the staff member was not seriously injured.
Employees of two grocery stores in Mission were confronted by aggressive shoplifters this week. The first incident occurred on November 22 around 1:30 pm, after a manager tried to stop a male and female who allegedly stole about $800 worth of product, including steaks, a drink dispenser, and sex toys. The male suspect allegedly threatened the manager with a stun-gun, at which time other customers stepped in to assist. Mission RCMP would like to speak with any of the customers that witnessed or assisted with this incident (604-826-7161, file 25-14842). The following day, a Loss Prevention Officer at another grocery store in Mission confronted a suspect and confiscated a number of stolen items. The male allegedly then put his hand into his pocket and threatened to stab the employee, before leaving. No injuries resulted, and the investigation is ongoing.
