Abbotsford (Abbotsford Police Department) – Between Friday at 5:00 AM and Monday at 6:00 AM, AbbyPD frontline officers responded to 291 police files.
Friday Night
Operations remained routine across the city. Patrol officers deployed a bait bike, which was subsequently stolen. A 45-year-old suspect was arrested, and a charges are pending. Officers also conducted several proactive checks throughout the evening as part of Operation Community Shield.
Saturday
The day was relatively uneventful, with one impaired driver located at 9:35 a.m. Follow-up work was completed on three missing person files. During the evening, two officers were assigned to a country concert at Rogers Forum (formerly Abbotsford Centre). Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop following a complaint of erratic driving. The 35-year-old driver provided false ID and was later confirmed to be a prohibited driver. He was arrested and now faces charges of Obstruction, Identity Theft, and Driving While Prohibited.
Sunday
In the morning, officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian at McCallum Road & Lynn Avenue. The driver remained on scene & is cooperating with police. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries & was transported to hospital. Impairment is not considered a factor. Throughout the day, officers attended two break-and-enter incidents & removed another impaired driver from the roads.
Chief Watson & the Community Engagement Team visited the Khalsa Diwan Society & Gurdwara Kalgidhar Darbar to answer questions regarding AbbyPD’s efforts under Operation Community Shield & to hear community concerns about public safety.
Sunday overnight, Two impaired drivers were located & removed from the roads. Officers also intercepted an excessive speeder traveling at 150 km/h on Highway 1.
