Chilliwack – RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating 85-year-old Walter Schmur who was reported missing on November 28, 2025.
Description of Walter:
- Caucasian male
- 85-year-old
- 5 ft 7 in
- 125 lbs
- Grey hair
He was last seen wearing:
- Red pajama pants
- Grey shirt
- Grey vest
- Long grey housecoat
- Black slippers
- Red and white toque
Walter was last seen near his residence located near Peach Rd and both police and family are concerned for Walter’s well-being.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Walter is urged to contact Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 and quote file number 2025-50602.
Update #2 – Search and Rescue (SAR) were out again today continuing their efforts to locate Walter Schmur. They continued with both water and land efforts to locate Schmur, however, have had negative results with locating anything that could further their search. Without new workable information, SAR will suspend their efforts at sundown today. The Chilliwack RCMP will continue with their investigation and ask the public to continue to keep a look out for Schmur and to search their property and outbuildings for any sign of him. Update #1 – Chilliwack RCMP continues to search for missing 85-year-old Walter Schmur. Chilliwack RCMP is continuing efforts to locate 85-year-old Walter Schmur who was reported missing on November 28, 2025. Police and family remain concerned for Walter’s well-being. Investigative efforts are ongoing. Search and Resue teams have deployed resources on land, watercraft and helicopter. RCMP Air 1 also assisted in the search. Residents in the Peach Road and Carter Road neighbourhoods are asked to check their properties, including backyards, outbuilding and shrubs as he may have sought shelter. Police are also asking anyone in the area to review home security cameras and vehicle dashcam footage for any possible sightings.
