Chilliwack (Chilliwack RCMP) – Just in time for Christmas Shopping.
Businesses in Hope and Chilliwack are being targeted with fake $100 bills. Many are marked with “Prop Money” or “Copy”. These bills often have the serial number GKV9181892.
Key details:
• Suspects (both male and female) are attempting to pass multiple bills at once.
• If unsure, check the serial number — it is likely they will all have the same one.
• Consider posting notice that $100 bills are not accepted.
• Location targets: convenience stores, grocery stores, department stores, and fast-food restaurants.
• When challenged, suspects may cause a scene to pressure staff.
What to do:
If someone tries to pay with a $100 bill that appears counterfeit, do NOT accept it.
