Abbotsford (with files from CityNews1130) – October 28 Update: IHIT is identifying the victim as 68-year-old Darshan Sahsi of Abbotsford in hopes of advancing the investigation. Early indications suggest this was a targeted incident and no one else was injured as a result of the shooting.
Investigators are working diligently to determine the motive and the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Homicide investigators are releasing the following CCTV image of a silver Toyota Corolla involved in the homicide and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the occupant.
“You can expect investigators in the area canvassing for witnesses and processing the crime scene,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “As we continue to build a timeline of events, it is important for anyone with information to contact IHIT immediately.”
IHIT is seeking dashcam footage from anyone who was in the area of the 31300-block of Ridgeview Drive on October 27, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

October 27 UPDATE – At approximately 9:22AM Monday (October 27) morning, Abbotsford Police Patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 31300 block of Ridgeview Drive.
Upon arrival, officers secured the area and confirmed the incident was confined to a single parked vehicle on the roadway. Inside the vehicle, they discovered a 68-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite lifesaving medical efforts of first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries. No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is still in its early stages, and additional resources have been deployed to support efforts in uncovering the full circumstances surrounding this incident. The Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit is transitioning the investigation to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), which will be providing further updates as the investigation advances.

ORIGINAL STORY – Abbotsford Police are on scene following a shooting that occurred at 9:20AM Monday (October 27) morning in the 31300 block of Ridgeview Drive. One adult male was shot and killed. As a precaution, three nearby schools were briefly placed under a shelter-in-place protocol. No students were harmed or directly impacted.
The incident occurred on the street and remains an active investigation. Additional details will be shared as they become available. A significant police presence will remain in the area throughout the day supporting the ongoing investigation.
In an update just before noon, the AbbyPD confirmed the incident is being investigated as a homicide. Sgt. Paul Walker says first responders discovered the man suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, the 68-year-old man died from his injuries.
