Charges Laid Against Former BC Correctional Officer from Abbotsford

Coquitlam/Abbotsford – In September 2022, the Coquitlam RCMP commenced a breach of trust investigation involving a former BC Correctional Officer employed at North Fraser Pretrial Centre in Port Coquitlam.

On October 15, 2025, two charges of breach of trust by a public officer were approved by the BC Prosecution Service and laid against Ramandeep RAI (nee: BASSI) of Abbotsford. The first offence is alleged to have occurred between July 14, 2022, and September 29, 2022, and the second between September 11 and 29, 2022.

Ramandeep RAI’s first court appearance is scheduled for October 23, 2025. Be advised that these charges are not connected to the Rabih Alkhalil case.
