Watershed Watch Hosting Conversation on Gill Bar Restoration and Management Plans – Wednesday February 21

Chilliwack – Watershed Watch Salmon Society is hosting a community conversation and dinner to celebrate the Xá:y Syí:ts’emílep Project to restore Gill Bar.

This is Wednesday February 21 at Cheam Band Hall (52170 Old Yale Road).

This is an open invitation to the project launch and community conversation about the Gill Bar restoration and Management Plan project.

Watershed Watch is part of the Gill Bar Team working on this project. They are helping to organize this meeting, which is hosted by the Pelólxw Tribe members Cheam and Sqwá as this is a First Nations-led project.

Xá:y Syí:ts’emílep means Gill Sand Bar in Halkomelem.

This community event will focus on the plans and actions being taken to revitalize and restore the Gill Bar reach of the Fraser River. Stewarded by Pelólxw Tribe members Cheam and Sqwá, these waterways have been important transportation routes and sources of food for many generations.
