Ottawa/Fraser Valley – Dane Lloyd, Member of Parliament for Sturgeon River-Parkland and Shadow Minister of Emergency Preparedness, the Hon. Ed Fast, Member of Parliament for Abbotsford, and Brad Vis, Member of Parliament for Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon issued the following statement in response to the Trudeau government’s failure to deliver commitments to prevent further flood disasters in the Fraser Valley:
Following the historic floods and landslides that devastated southern British Columbia in 2021, Trudeau’s Minister of Emergency Preparedness wasted no time scheduling a photo op to announce funding for disaster recovery in the region. The Liberal government even announced a new committee co-chaired by the Liberal Emergency Preparedness Minister to help support the flow of support for disaster recovery.
Then the Liberals left town and left British Columbians behind.
With new flood events threatening the Fraser Valley, tensions and fears are rising. This week, we learned that the Mayor of Abbotsford’s efforts to contact the federal government have gone unanswered. Canadians in the region are left wondering where the Trudeau Government is.
Once again, Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government are all photo op and no action.
Instead of politicizing natural disasters, focusing on photo ops, and promoting their failed carbon tax, it’s time for Trudeau and his Ministers to deliver on their promises to keep our communities safe. Trudeau’s Minister of Emergency Preparedness must check his email, pick up the phone, and finally demonstrate leadership.”
