Abbotsford/Richmond (Eric Lapointe Yuk Yuk’s) – Yuk Yuk’s Media (operated by Icarus Capital Corp) is launching its first Abbotsford comedy theatre series at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (MCA) on Saturday February 24, and later on May 4, 2024. These live stand-up comedy events will be branded as the Abby Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Night series.
This first special event on February 24 will feature headliner, and internationally touring Vancouver-based comic, Byron Bertram. Bertram will be supported by some of Canada’s fastest rising stars from the local lower mainland comedy scene, including Abbotsford-based host Alex Svarez and support acts including Chilliwack’s Cliff Prang and Langley’s Jessica Pigeau. A second event is already scheduled but talent will be announced shortly, at a later date.
Bertram recently came off of a wildly successful European tour in the Fall 2023 where he visited over 10 countries including the UK, Netherlands, German, Switzerland and more. Abbotsford will be in for a special treat with this seasoned traveling comic who knows how to adapt material for his diverse audiences.
“Bringing all new live community theater events throughout BC is a big part of our new Yuk Yuk’s Media strategy. This new company, in partnership with head office, will drive both live events and create all new digital content production opportunities, focusing on comedy content” shared Garry Yuill, Yuk Yuk’s Media/Icarus Capital CEO.
Eric Y. Lapointe, Yuk Yuk’s Media/Icarus Capital COO added, “community out-reach is really important to us, as we strive to immerse ourselves into the local scene and find various regional partnerships in order to help attract high quality talent in the long-term. This is why we have teamed up with rising local Abbotsford local comic Alex Svarez who has put in a tremendous amount of work to build a local comedy scene, well outside of Vancouver.
