Toronto Homicide of Former Abbotsford Suspect

Toronto/Abbotsford – On November 9 2023, Toronto Police Service revealed details of a homicide investigation.

On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at approximately 7:17 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the parking garage of 388 Yonge Street.

It is reported that:

  • a person was shot in the parking garage
  • life-saving measures were performed by emergency services
  • the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene
  • the suspect fled the scene in a newer model silver SUV

The victim has been identified as Parmvir Chahil, 27, of Windsor. According to Black Press, before moving to Toronto, Chahil was living in Abbotsford, where he was believed to be the target of a 2015 drive-by shooting that killed innocent man Ping Shun Ao, 74, when he was struck by a stray bullet.

Chahil was Ao’s next-door neighbour on Promontory Court. No one has ever been charged in relation to Ao’s death.

Investigators in T-O are asking anyone with information, or anyone who was parked in the parking garage at the time and has dash-camera footage to contact police.
