JULY 24 UPDATE – Crews and Weather Have Upper Hand on Hunter Hill Fire Near Mission

Mission – The Hunter Hill fire started on Saturday and BC Wildfire Service says this was human caused.

Crews and the change in the weather have suppressed the growth.

Mission Fire Rescue Crews and BC Wildfire have resumed firefighting activities with the assistance of the Mission Forestry Department on scene as well.

The Incident Action plan for the day remains similar to Sunday. Mission Fire Rescue will primarily focus on providing water supply support, as well as some direct fire suppression support to BC Wildfire Crews. BC Wildfire has deployed a 20-person unit crew and will continue to provide aerial fire suppression support.

Mission Fire Rescue is on scene with the Fire Chief and 4 staffed fire apparatus. They anticipate favorable weather conditions Monday, which should aid fire suppression efforts. However, given the complexity of the fire, crews are expected to remain on scene throughout the entire day.

The fire is currently listed as approximately 3 hectares.
