Vancouver/Kamloops (Ethan Allin BCIT Radio Arts and Journalism) The Vancouver Giants Win 5-2 In Kamloops, Game 6 is set for Sunday May 15th at the LEC.
The Giants are now only down 3-2 in their second round series agains the Blazers who hosted Vancouver live at the Sandman Centre May, 13th.
Kamloops opened the scoring early but Vancouver eventually took over with a huge four goal third period. Final shots were 37-26 in favour of the Blazers.
Starting off the scoring in Game 5 was Kamloops Blazers Forward Luke Toporowski. It was his seventh of the playoffs at 4:27 assisted by Logan Stankoven making it 1-0.
It wasn’t long after when Vancouver Giants Forward Adam Hall (9) tied the game 1-1 at 9:09 in the first period assisted by Zack Ostapchuk.
Kamloops Blazers Forward Matthew Seminoff (3) scored to give them a 2-1 lead in the second period. That goal was assisted by Fraser Minten and Viktor Persson.
Penalties were prominent again in Game 5 with nine called through two periods of play.
The Vancouver Giants game out flying in the third period with a goal from Forward Ty Thorpe (3) at 1:33 assisted by Tom Cadieux and Cole Shepard.
Quickly after that the Giants scored again with a goal from Forward Zack Ostapchuk (6) and assisted by Evan Toth and Fabian Lysell.
Vancouver Giants Forward Adam Hall (10) scored an empty net goal making it 4-2 at 18:22 assisted by Zack Ostapchuk and Fabian Lysell.
The last empty net goal was scored by Giants Forward Zack Ostapchuk at 18:38 assisted by Adam Hall and Ty Thorpe.
