OPINION – Former Lytton School Principal Concerned About the Snail’s Pace of Lytton’s Reconstruction

Lytton – Denise O’Connor is a Retired Elementary School Principal. “I’m not a muckraker, I’m a community member who lost their home on June 30 (2021) in the Lytton fire.

O’Connor posted to Twitter about her frustration over the slow pace of the Lytton rebuild.

A step forward. This past week downed telus & hydro wires are finally being gathered and taken away from the village of #Lytton. It’s so hard for residents to understand why this part of the clean-up took 10 months to do.

Mayor of Lytton (Jan Polderman) told me Friday that insured properties could have started cleanup on March 8. He said there’s been no meetings between prov/village and insurance. ??? Only municipal and uninsured properties have begun any cleanup.

Jackie Tegart is the MLA for Fraser Nicola and FVN reached out for comment.
