Chilliwack (Vincent Timperio, BCIT Radio Arts and Entertainment) – Some 40 years ago, a group of Chilliwack women started pondering about what ways they could help single mothers raising young children in high stress moments.
After planning and getting together to talk about it, it became urgently clear that maintaining a family that eats together would be a problem, because there is evidently something about eating as a family that levels the playing field……and everyone needs to eat.
35 years and counting later, these women who started bringing food to families at Sardis Doorway still get together to help serve families in need.
Currently, there are over 60 registered volunteers who gather each Wednesday to do a variety of services not just including food service for these families.
Sardis Doorway thrives on the simple concept of caring for others.
