First Annual Chilliwack Heritage Festival- September 2022 – Needs Volunteers

Chilliwack – The Chilliwack Heritage Festival Society (CHFS) was formed by a group of community leaders dedicated to preserving our unique local heritage.

The first Chilliwack Heritage Festival will be a celebration of our past, showcasing the history, achievements, families, and heritage of First Nations and the pioneers who settled in Chilliwack. Over two days, the music, lifestyle, and culture of Chilliwack’s settlers and First Nations will be presented by existing community groups with roots from the past, participating with their own displays, booths, and speakers.

The Festival is scheduled for September 17-18, 2022, barring any provincial health directives. It will be staged at the Pioneer Village Museum area, next to Heritage Park.

[Note: This inaugural Festival was delayed the last two years due to the pandemic.]

The CHFS’s board of directors has openings for three individuals who have a love of Chilliwack’s heritage and the energy to make this first Festival a success, as well as ensuring it becomes an annual forum for Chilliwack’s rich history. Experience in event planning, fundraising and sponsorship, or the entertainment industry would be most helpful.

The new board members would be joining the CHFS’s existing three directors: me – Carsten Arnold, Debora Soutar, and Merlin Bunt. In addition to the board openings, the CHFS is also looking to fill the following volunteer positions:

  • Production and Logistics Coordinator
  • Community Coordinator – Atchelitz, Yarrow, and Greendale
  • Community Coordinator – Sardis, Vedder Crossing, and Promontory
  • Community Coordinator – Chilliwack proper, Fairfield Island, and Little Mountain
  • Community Coordinator – Cultus Lake and Columbia Valley
