UPDATE – Provincial Health Order for Fraser Valley East – As COVID Numbers Rise, New Restrictions In Place – Valley Mayors Approve Action – Pop Up CLinics

Fraser Valley (with Files from News1130/CTV) – New Provincial Public Health restrictions come into effect Tuesday for Abbotsford, Hope, Chilliwack, Agassiz, Mission, and Harrison.

This was announced by the PHO Dr. Bonnie Henry and the Health Minister Adrian Dix.

The entire 12 page document can be found here.

Private gatherings in homes are now limited to five people or one household. Outdoor gatherings of 10 people are allowed unless everyone is fully vaccinated. Organized events are limited to 10 people inside or 50 outside unless everyone has received two vaccine doses.

You must be fully vaccinated to work out at your gym, as well as attending indoor ticketed events such as movies and sporting events.

This is similar to the restrictions in place for the Interior Health Authority.

Chilliwack, Hope, Abbotsford, Mission and Agassiz-Harrison are being targeted due to a combination of lower vaccination rates and higher transmission of COVID-19.

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the Fraser Valley and new public health orders are introduced, Mayors of Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Hope, Harrison Hot Springs, Kent and Mission, and the Chair of the Board of the Fraser Valley Regional District want to remind everyone of the importance of getting vaccinated.

Earlier today, BC Public Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix announced increased public health orders by Fraser Health for Abbotsford, Agassiz, Chilliwack, Harrison Hot Springs, Hope and Mission in order to decrease the transmission of COVID-19. Orders are effective immediately in order to help reduce the transmission of the virus. Fraser Health has seen the lowest immunization rates in these communities and in turn, the highest case rates which has led to impacts on our schools, workplaces and hospitals in the Fraser East region. Now is the time for all of us to help protect our communities by getting vaccinated.

If you haven’t got vaccinated yet or if it’s been more than 28 days since your first dose, visit a vaccination clinic today and get protected from COVID-19. Daily clinics include:

·         Abbotsford: Abbotsford Ag Rec (32470 Haida Drive, Building 1) from 8:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

·         Chilliwack: Chilliwack COVID-19 Testing and Immunization Centre (9090 Newman Road) from 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
