Abbotsford-Mission MLA Pam Alexis Recovering from “Health Issue”

Fraser Valley – Just after the lunch hour on Wednesday September 22, a vaguely worded release from the BC NDP Caucus stated that Abbotsford-Mission MLA suffered a “health issue”.

FVN was made aware of this release.

“A health issue occurred this week with MLA Pam Alexis that required medical attention. Out of respect for her privacy, there won’t be any comment at this time.” This apparently happened on Tuesday September 21.

FVN has reached out to contacts within the BC NDP for clarification.

Alexis was Mission Mayor and a Councilor before entering provincial politics.

On Monday September 27, a statement was posted to the Facebook page Pam Alexis MLA for Abbotsford Mission:

I want to thank everyone who sent messages of support over the past week. I assure you my staff has passed on every text, email and DM, and they brought me quite a bit of joy and comfort during this time. Thank you for your kindness, as well as respecting my and my family’s privacy at this time.“My recovery is going very well, and I am already looking forward to getting back to work. As of this morning, however, my doctors have advised that I am to continue with uninterrupted rest for at least the next three weeks. In that time my team will continue to serve our constituents regarding their questions and concerns in provincial matters. Please do not hesitate to contact them—they are happy to help! “Finally, I want to thank the doctors at Vancouver General Hospital, the paramedics who ensured my safe travel to VGH, and my fellow MLAs in caucus who sprang to action so quickly. I want to especially thank my colleague and friend Harwinder Sandhu, MLA for Vernon-Monashee. She did the best possible thing when I said ‘I’m fine’: She refused to listen.”
